Anne Bezanson Prize for Extraordinary Lifetime Contributions to the Field of Economic History
This prize was established to recognize and honor the extraordinary contributions of Dr. Anne Bezanson to the field of economic history. Bezanson was instrumental in the creation of EHA, served as President 1946-48, and provided crucial support during the organization’s formative years. Through her work as a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania in the Industrial Research Department and her work at the Rockefeller Foundation, she was instrumental in the development of economic history as a respected academic field.
To be awarded every two years for extraordinary lifetime contributions to the field of economic history.
The recipient shall have contributed to the development of economic history in several of the following ways:
- Service to the Economic History Association and other organizations advancing the study of economic history
- Promoting the teaching of economic history at all levels
- Encouraging research and data collection/sharing
- Disseminating the findings of economic history research to a wider audience
- Expanding the boundaries of economic history through research in new areas or research on underrepresented groups
- Expanding the boundaries of economic history through outreach to underrepresented groups
- Supporting and encouraging junior scholars
Nomination letters with accompanying Curriculum Vita can be submitted to the Committee. The Committee can also solicit proposals.
