The 2024 EHA Meeting will be held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel (1230 J Street, 13th and J Street, Sacramento, CA, 95814 United States) from September 6-8, 2024. We have negotiated a special rate of $169/night (exclusive of taxes) for the conference dates, plus you can get the rate three nights before and three nights after the conference dates based on availability in the hotel.

Sacramento has much to offer meeting participants, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and even bookstores within in easy walking distance of the hotel. Some highlights of the area will be marked in the map which will be embedded below. Travel to Sacramento is possible via air and train. The Sacramento airport is a midsize international airport with flights operated by several airlines, including but not limited to: Delta, United, Southwest, American, Air Canada, and Spirit. The airport has a website that includes more information about travel to and through the airport, along with ground transportation options and availability. Please find the website here:

Registration Process and Link

To register, you will need to select the proper category of registration along with the various events and extras you would like to choose. Then you will fill out a form with your information, and then you return to your cart to complete checkout. To begin the process CLICK HERE.

Note: Students have extra options like the graduate student dinner and job workshop. Be sure to select those if you intend to join. They are free, but require registration. 

Tours and Special Events

Tours – All Tours Friday Morning, September 6

Tour 1: California State Capitol (9:30am) – $5 

This tour will meet in the lobby of the Sheraton Grand at 9:30am then walk over to the Capitol building just a few blocks away. The tour lasts one hour, and will be guided by staff at the Capitol. After, feel free to explore the park in front of the Capitol which has a large number of unique tree and plant species with explanatory placards. 

Tour 2: Stanford Mansion (9:30am) – $5

This tour will meet in the lobby of the Sheraton Grand at 9:30am then walk to the mansion which is just 15 minutes away. The tour lasts about 45 minutes, but there will be time to check out the state park after. CLICK HERE for more information about the mansion and park.

Tour 3: California State Railroad Museum (9:00am) – $5

This tour will meet in the lobby of the Sheraton Grand at 9:00am as it will take about 20 minutes to walk to the museum. The tour will begin at 10am, so there will be a few minutes before the tour to explore Old Sacramento, which is where the museum is located. CLICK HERE for more information on the museum. Special Events

Job Market Workshop – Friday, September 6, 10am-12pm

This workshop is for graduate students and recent grads looking for advice and guidance for the upcoming job market. On this panel faculty will share advice for graduate students in economic history, and job market candidates, and answer any questions that students may have. Also good for students who are going on the market in the coming years.

Graduate Student Dinner – Friday, September 6, 7-9pm at Federalist Pizza

All graduate students are encouraged and welcome to attend. We will have a few senior scholars to chat with you, but mostly this is an opportunity to network with one another. The restaurant is within walking distance from the conference hotel and is located at 2009 Matsui Alley. CLICK HERE for more information on the restaurant.
