Recent publications in the BePress.

There are several good columns or articles that have been published in =

the BePress at http://www.bepress.com/ev/vol2/iss1/ Four of them have =

been posted in the last week. There are also letters to the editor
there.

The list is below and they can be downloaded from the press web site.

I found the Boskin and Stiglitz columns to be fairly general and to
express their political economic views of the long-term solvency and
what PRAs will do. Boskin is pro PRAs and Stigliz is opposed.

The Diamond and Orszag is a very good summary of their recommendations =

that are spelled out in more detail in their book Saving Social
Security. I found it very useful.

Munnell is critical of the =93Administration=92s Proposed Retirement =
Saving
Accounts (RSAs)=94 She points out that current holders of 401Ks have =
not
done as well as the hypothetical proposals would suggest. She also
mentions that many discussions of projected future benefits do not
consider that the Medicare Part B deduction is going to be increasing.

Bergmann is pointing out that a higher tax rate may be tolerable =

as other countries support there transfer programs with higher rates
than the US,
