This list started by December 1, 1994. There are currently about 70 subscribers: United States and Canada: 76 %, Western Europe: 15 % Australia and Asia : 5 %, Eastern Europe: 4 % There is certainly a wide range of motivations among current subscribers. As a working hypothesis let us try to arrange them into the following three categories (such a classification clearly is open to revision): 1) There may be a number of subscribers who are just interested in seeing what is "going on"; such may be the case of archivists or list officers for instance. 2) There may be researchers who are willing to devote a small part of their time to exchanging information (preferably on a reciprocity basis of course); this may for instance involve locating (for the benefit of an other subscriber) a specific monography published in their home country, or more generally any other way of providing aid and guidance in bibliographical matters. One of the list's objective is to constitute a network of "correspondents" through which the access to national publications and archives may be greatly facilitated. 3) A third category of subscribers may consist of researchers interested in investigating (for part of their time, at least) one (or several) of the specific types of recurrent events considered by the list. For the first six months of the list's existence, only four chapters (namely those mentioned in the Welcome letter) will be opened. The obvious reason for this restriction is to prevent an exponential growth in the number of chapters. In order to provide the best possible service, we need to have an idea about your expectations. Accordingly, we would be grateful if you could send back the following questionnaire.
