As Secretary, on behalf of the Economic History Society of Australia and New Zealand I would like to invite applications for the following prizes:



S. J. Butlin Prize

Economic History Society of Australia and New Zealand Prize for the Best Doctoral or Masters Thesis in Economic History For 2006-2008



Aim

The aim of the prize is to reward outstanding postgraduate work in economic history. The prize honours the contribution of the late Professor Sydney Butlin to economic history.

Prize

The Butlin Prize is awarded triennially to the best Masters or PhD thesis in Australian or New Zealand economic history. It consists of A$500 and publication of a digest or a chapter of the winning thesis in the Australian Economic History Review, subject to the normal editorial revision by the Review editors.





McCarty Prize

Economic History Society of Australia and New Zealand Prize for the Best 4th year Honours Thesis in Economic History For 2008



Aim

The aim of the prize is to encourage undergraduate students to undertake postgraduate studies in economic history. The prize honours the contribution of the late Professor John McCarty to economic history.

Prize

The prize is awarded annually to the best 4th year Honours Thesis in Economic History. It consists of A$100 and publication of a digest or a chapter of the winning thesis in the Australian Economic History Review, subject to the normal editorial revisions by the Review editors.
