Postdoctoral Fellowship - School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, University of Nottingham
The School of Contemporary Chinese Studies (SCCS), the University of Nottingham, wishes to sponsor one or more early career researchers (within 3 years of PhD award) to apply for a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship. We wish to support those with a research interest in Chinese economic and business history, or international business and management, or Chinese economics. The Academy's scheme is designed to enable outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of teaching and research in a university environment during the three year fellowship.
Research fields
A potential supported candidate for the scheme should have a research interest in one of the following fields, which are strengths of several members of staff.
* Economic and business history of China from the 18th century to the present, especially an interest in long-run economic growth or the modern firm and the transfer of management knowledge and organisational practices to China.
* International business and management in China, with a specific focus on one or more subfields of foreign direct investment, the multinational firm, strategy, human resources, and marketing.
* Chinese economics, focused on one or more subfields of economic growth, regional development, financial markets, and comparative development.
Teaching fields
While staff research span from the 18th century onwards, the primary teaching duties are focused on contemporary China. A successfully-supported candidate will be expected to co-teach in one or more of the following subject areas.
* Chinese economic development
* Management and organisation of the Chinese firm
* International business in China
* Human resource and marketing management for China
* East Asian business and society

Interested researchers should contact Associate Professor Stephen Morgan, Research Director, s.morgan at nottingham.ac.uk, with "Fellowship" in the subject field. Please attach a CV and a brief statement of research interests (less than one page) and a brief statement of teaching experience and a self-assessment of your potential to teach in one or more of the designated areas (less than one page).
Expressions of interest should be made before 15 September 2008 to enable time to prepare and submit the outline submission, which is due before 1 October.
