I think of Taussig's work on tariffs and recall Isolationism and Protectionism as the main parts of U. S. foreign economic policy. This was Republican Party ideology--both of the mainstream and of the Progressives. Hence, it seems there is myth building, although I did not see the program. Scot Stradley
