Dear HES,

I was wondering if anyone on the list knows the story behind John Hicks'
visit to the University of Chicago in October of 1946. It is known he gave
three or four seminars there that fall (at least one attended by Friedman).
Another seminar given that fall was by Koopmans; again why he was visiting
is unknown.

It has been speculated that Hicks was there as a guest of the Cowles
Commission and that the Koopmans lecture following those by Hicks makes that
connection quite strong.

Does anyone happen to have more of the story? Thank you.

Marianne Johnson
