Call for papers: The Second International Conference on 
 
E C O N O M I C S   AND  H U M A N  B I O L O G Y 
 
Munich, June 10-13, 2004 
 
        Conference will explore of the complex and symbiotic relationship between 
humans, as biological beings, and the economy, broadly conceived. Relevant 
topics include but are not limited to: 
 
·       The impact of industrialization, urbanization, agricultural policy, 
technological change, and commercialization on biological welfare and health 
outcomes 
 
·       The impact of government intervention programs at the individual level, 
public health policy at the population level, and the impact of welfare 
measures and macroeconomic policy on the human organism 
 
·       Feedback effects from human biological outcomes to the economy, insofar as 
healthier individuals invariably lead longer, more creative, and more 
productive lives, determining thereby the course of economic growth and 
development. 
 
·       The relationship between anthropometric indicators as weight, 
birth-weight, physical stature, the body mass index, morbidity and mortality 
on economic processes 
 
·       Health as a component of Human Development 
 
·       The conceptualization of health and health models in economic theory, the 
measurement of poverty, malnutrition, and psychological deprivation in 
developing countries 
 
·       Related statistical, econometric and methodological issues 
 
Submissions are welcome in:

We expect to be able to subsidise travel expenses and accommodation of most 
participants.
