I teach a non-honors capstone course. For the first two years I used  
a theme of monetary history, then I gave up altogether to concentrate  
on the writing a paper part. The students arrive so ill-prepared that  
I have to put all my energy in getting them to select a proper topic,  
conduct a decent literature review, obtain data in the appropriate  
format and use a meaningful empirical methodology. You can find my
