EH.R: Land prices in 1770s England - any recent sources?

Dear listmembers,

Could anyone recommend recent sources on the price of land in England in the 1770s and 1780s?

The data I currently have is based on older sources - a 1974 article by Christopher Clay and Habakkuk's big tome of 1994 (which was at least partially based on older research).

The point I am looking to validate (or falisify) is that average land prices plummeted during the 1770s - from about 30 'years' purchase' (the price of an estate expressed as a multiple of its annual income) to 22 or less. These are Habakkuk's figures for the national average price for all of England; Clay gives a median rate of 27 years' purchase for the south of England during the late-1770s depression.

References to newer studies would be very useful to me.

Many thanks,

Adam Hofri-Winogradow.
