Dear Colleagues,
Please find attached for Symposium on Corporate Governance I am
organizing with two colleagues. We hope to be able to organize several
sessions on different perspectives on this issue at the forthcoming
Association for Private Enterprise Education Annual Convention that
will take place in April 2010 in Las Vegas Nevada. The title of the
Symposium is Corporate Governance: International Perspectives. If the
symposium is a success, we will select the best papers for a special
issue of the Journal of Private Enterprise. I have attached the Call
for Papers below. We hope to have papers on this issue presented from
economic, political science, business ethic, historical, legal
perspectives.
For those of you who have not attended APEE before, let me provide
you with a little bit of background on the conferences and
association. In addition to APEE, I regularly attend the ASSAs and
SEAs, and APEE is by far my favorite, primarily because of the people.
It is a smaller conference, with around 400 individuals regularly
attending, and there are three common meals, which makes it very easy
to meet new people as well as renew old friendships year after year.
The meals are also a reason why the conference registration is just
under $400, which can seem a bit pricey. But for that, you get 3 full
meals (Sunday dinner and Monday and Tuesday lunch) plus 2 mornings of
continental breakfast, and an annual subscription to the Journal of
Private Enterprise. In addition, journal submission fees are waived
for all papers presented at the annual meeting. Combined with the
relatively low cost of hotel rooms and flights to Las Vegas from most
parts of the country, it is a relatively inexpensive conference to
attend.
More information on the Association can be found here: http://www.apee.org/
Addition information on the 2010 conference can be found here:

Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you!
Alex Padilla
