The Economics Department of Reed College invites applications from
economists who are strongly committed to undergraduate teaching for two
tenure-track positions to begin in the fall of 2010. The successful
candidate is expected to teach five one-semester courses, including both
advanced undergraduate courses in their fields as well as core courses.
Candidates are also expected to advise several year-long senior thesis
projects each year. Individuals interested in this position should send
a letter of application describing both your interest in teaching and
the courses you would most like to teach in an undergraduate liberal
arts college. In addition, please send a curriculum vitae, graduate
transcripts, teaching evaluations, and a recent research paper, and
arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted. Electronic
applications are required and must be sent as PDF (preferred) or Word
attachments to economics.search at reed.edu. If letters of reference must
be sent in hard copy, please submit to Economics Search c/o Karin Purdy,
Reed College, 3203 SE Woodstock Blvd., Portland OR 97202. Applicants
whose materials are received by November 23, 2009 will be considered for
interviews at the AEA meetings in Atlanta. Candidates should have the
Ph.D. degree by August 2010. We expect to make this appointment at the
assistant professor level, but we will consider applications from more
experienced persons. An Equal Opportunity Employer, Reed values
diversity and encourages applications from underrepresented groups.
