Canadian Network for Economic History Meeting 2009
Call for Papers
Theme: New Perspectives on Long-Run Growth
Keynote Speaker: Joel Mokyr (Northwestern)
The Canadian Network for Economic History invites proposals for its
October 2-4, 2009 conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We welcome
submissions related to all economic history topics, particularly those
associated with the theme “New Perspectives on Long-Run Growth.” 
The deadline for abstract submissions is June 1, 2009. To be
considered, please email a two page abstract to the program committee,
Marina Adshade and Mauricio Drelichman, at cneh at dal.ca.Proposals from
graduate students and junior scholars are particularly encouraged as
funds may become available to partially reimburse the travel and
accommodation costs of such participants. All authors of the papers
selected for presentation should expect to be notified by mid-July.
Two special events are planned for the conference. The first is a
welcoming reception and keynote lecture to be held at Pier 21, Canada’ s
Immigration Museum located at the entry point for over 1.5 million new
Canadians who arrived between 1928 and 1971.  The second is a conference
dinner in the Casements of the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.
Participants will have an opportunity during both events to tour the
facilities and speak to the local historic interpreters. For more
