XVth World Economic History Congress
Utrecht, the Netherlands, 3-7 August 2009
Reminder: CALL FOR POSTERS
The International Economic History Association (IEHA) will hold its
fifteenth World Economic History Congress in Utrecht, the Netherlands,
from the 3rd to the 7th of August 2009. The congress includes a poster
session for PhD-students and junior postdoc researchers.
The poster session offers junior researchers a great opportunity to
present ongoing research to an international audience. Posters combine
text and graphics in order to communicate information and ideas. The
informal and interactive setting of the poster session makes it easy to
engage people in conversation and invite feedback.
>From the applications a jury consisting of members of the Executive
Committee will select around thirty posters. These will be on display
for two to three days in the hall where the coffee breaks are held,
which will give the posters maximum exposure. The poster session itself
will be divided in two parts, taking place on Monday August 3 in the
late morning and on Thursday August 6 in the late afternoon. On each
occasion fifteen participants will be expected to be with their posters
for brief presentations, questions and discussion. The jury will assess
the posters and give an award to the best poster.
For practical information and suggestions on how to make a good poster,
consult the congress website
(http://www.wehc2009.org/callforposters.asp)
Are you interested in participating in the poster session? Then submit a
proposal containing the following elements:
- the proposed title of the poster;
- an abstract of the contents of the poster (max 400 words);
- your name, email address and institutional affiliation.
Submissions should be sent by email to: info at wehc2009.org before April
1, 2009.
Reception of the submission will be acknowledged by email. Around May 1,
2009 candidates will be informed if their poster is selected for the
poster session. The selected candidates will then have to submit their
poster as a digital document before July 1, 2009, and take a full-size
printed version of the poster with them to the congress.
Candidates who prefer not to register for the congress until they have
been informed that their poster has been selected, may register after
April 1 and still pay the early registration fee of 230 euro instead of
the regular registration fee of 300 euro.
