Important Reminders about the Conference:
1. The registration for the 69th Economic History Association annual meeting - held in Tucson, Arizona on September 11-13, 2009 - is now open at: www.ehameeting.com ( http://www.ehameeting.com/ ). If you would prefer to register by using a check or prefer not to use the online
option, please use the printed form in your annual EHA mailing. The preregistration deadline is August 18, 2009.
2. Completed papers should be submitted by August 11, 2009. By vote of the Board of Trustees, the corresponding author must be a current member of the Association (to join the Association, please go to eh.net/eha). Papers should in all cases be work in progress rather than accepted or published work; submitters have a responsibility to let the program committee know if the paper has been submitted for publication.
3. Paper, poster, and dissertation abstracts will be featured in the conference program, so please send in updated versions of such abstracts by the end of July, 2009. Otherwise the organizers will use the versions already submitted.
4. HOTEL: The Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona is nestled in the Catalina Mountain foothills on 100 acres of ancient Sonoran desert, one mile from the Sabino Canyon Recreational Facility, and 20 minutes from the University of Arizona. Book lodging directly with the hotel and request the Economic History Association group rate ($165/night single or double occupancy). Call +1 (520) 299-2020 or book online using these steps:
1. Go to the Loews Ventana Canyon homepage:
http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Hotels/Tucson-Resort/Overview.aspx
2. Go to the "Book your room" box on the left-hand side and enter in
dates,
number of rooms, number of guests.
3. Under "Partner Programs" select Group.
4. Type in "EHA909" for the Group Code.
5. Select your room type.
6. Then you will have to enter address, credit card info, etc.
7. A confirmation letter will be emailed to you.
The deadline for getting the preferential rate is firm: August 20, 2009.
5. BOOK EXHIBIT: We hope to welcome over 200 participants from around the world. We invite you to contact your book publishers and encourage them to participate in our tabletop book exhibit, or advertise in our printed program or provide an insert for our registration packets.
For further details and the appropriate forms, see: http://ehameeting.com/book_exhibit.
*Note that the website has for a period of time featured the 2008 forms. The correct forms have been sent directly to publishers and the information on the website will be amended immediately. Materials should indeed be sent to Dr. Fishback and not to last year's organizers. The Meetings Office wishes to apologize for any confusion in the matter.
Cordially,
Jari Eloranta
