THE FACULTY OF HISTORY

THREE-YEAR DEPARTMENTAL LECTURERSHIP IN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL HISTORY

Applications are invited for a three-year, 
fixed-term Departmental Lecturership in Economic 
and Social History, tenable from 1 October 2008. 
The appointment is to fulfill teaching needs 
arising from a period of academic leave granted 
to a current postholder, and is non-renewable.

Applications are welcome from specialists in any 
period of early modern or modern economic and 
social history (with a social science 
orientation), and in any geographical area. The 
ability to teach quantitative methods at entry 
level will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be appointed to a 
three-year, fixed-term Departmental Lecturership 
in the Faculty of History. He/she will be 
expected to provide up to a maximum of 36 
lectures and classes annually, plus associated 
tutorials in subjects at both undergraduate and 
graduate level; to supervise undergraduate and 
graduate dissertations; to participate in 
University examining at undergraduate and taught 
graduate level; and to engage in advanced and 
original research in the field of economic and 
social history. The stipend for the post will be 
£26,666 per annum.
