Tender notice:
"A History of the Committee of Governors of the Central Banks of the
Member States of the European Economic Community, 1957-1993"
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS), in cooperation with the
European Central Bank (ECB), has decided to commission an academic
history of the "Committee of the Governors of the Central Banks of
the Member States of the European Economic Community" (Committee of
Governors). The Project aims at writing a history of European
monetary integration as viewed and shaped by the EU central banks.
The study will cover the years 1957-1993, or, from the Treaty of
Rome, which first entailed the goal of closer "coordination of
European monetary policy," until the dissolution of the Committee of
Governors and its replacement by the European Monetary Institute.
Some brief "pre-history" background (in particular, about debates and
decisions taken at the OECE, the EPU, and the BIS) may be included.
The BIS and ECB are looking for a qualified economist/economic
historian to write this academic history. The author will be selected
following a tendering process. In order to be considered for
selection please request the application form by sending an e-mail
including your full name, academic qualification and affiliation, and
contact e-mail address to corporate.procurement at bis.org, at the
latest by Thursday 15 November 2007.
