ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT TO PRE-REGISTER FOR THE 2007 EHA MEETING
ECONOMIC HISTORY ASSOCIATION
SEPTEMBER 7-9, 2007
AUSTIN, TEXAS
The 67th Annual Meeting of the Economic History Association will be
held in Austin, Texas from September 7-9, 2007. The theme chosen by
President Paul Hohenberg for the meeting is
SPACE AND PLACE IN ECONOMIC HISTORY
The program is packed with twelve paper sessions, six dissertation
finalists and nine graduate student posters! There are two special
plenary sessions, one on Friday afternoon and the other on Saturday
afternoon - including presentations by Michael Bernstein and
Christina Romer on "What Remains After Fifty Years: A Look Back at
Economic Domestic Policy in the Decade after Sputnik" and Brad deLong
and Dick Easterlin on "What Remains After Fifty Years: The Role of
Economic History as a Guide to Economic Development." You won't want
to miss this meeting!
Register today online at www.ehameeting.com - the deadline for
pre-registration is Friday, August 17th. After this date you will
have to register onsite and pay an additional $25!!! There is plenty
to do if you arrive early, on Friday morning there is a local tour of
the State Capitol as well as two workshops. Thomson Gale Publishers
will be illustrating the many ways to use their new digital archive
entitled "Making of the Modern World." Steven Nafziger, Leah Platt
Boustan and Jason Long will share their wisdom on how to survive the
Job Market and end up employed!
Make your room reservations at the Sheraton Austin Hotel in downtown
Austin, across from the Capitol. You can reserve your room by calling
(512) 478-1111 or by going to the hotel page of the online
registration. Be sure to mention that you are with the EHA
Conference to get the $145/night group rate! The deadline for getting
a room at this rate (and maybe for getting any room at all) is
Thursday, August 16th. Don't delay this year because hotel space will
be very tight due to a University of Texas home football game that
same weekend!
