Abstract:
How have we come to know the performance of the "business" and the "economy"?
How do we find out about individual company performance or the
broader performance of the economy in this era where the power of the
corporations and the state of the economy significantly affect our
everyday lives? For company performance, there are many different
modes of information such as news paper articles, business magazine
stories, analysts' reports, share prices, etc..Among them, the
position of financial accounting is of central importance, as it is
most frequently cited in many forms of information and is regulated
by law, periodically produced, professionally audited, officially
published and more or less internationally standardized. What about
the state of the economy that is perhaps harder to grasp immediately?
