EH.R: Seeking repository of papers of Johannes Conrad
In a soon-to-be-published book, I pay considerable homage to Johannes Conrad, the pioneer in quantitative studies of land ownership in Germany, and I now plan to complete and extend a series of articles he wrote in the Jahrbuecher fuer Nationalekonomie und Statistik between 1888 and 1898. (The journal still exists, and has acquired an English title as well: Journal of Economics and Statistics.) Conrad was editor of this journal from 1878 until his death in 1915. There is a section of Conrad's papers in the archive of the University of Halle, where he was professor of political economy(Staatswissenschaft) from 1870 onwards, but these are very sparse and deal only with his teaching activity. I would like to know if anyone knows of the existence of any of Conrad's papers, especially those relating to his research, in an archive or library somewhere. Among many other things, I would be interested in any correspondence between Conrad and his research assistant, a Mr. Morcinietz, an actuary for the Iduna insurance company in Halle. Any help would be appreciated. Scott Eddie -- Scott M.
