Economic
History Society From the President: Professor Pat Hudson AcSS Professor Roberto Cortes
Conde 20. August 2002 Dear Professor Cortes Conde, I write formally and on behalf
of the Economic History Society to thank you most sincerely for all
your hard work and dedication in organising the XIIIth International
Congress in Buenos Aires in July. I have now heard from several of our
members who benefited greatly from participation in various sessions
and we have received a formal report from Professor Pat Thane who emphasises
what a great success the meeting was despite the immense difficulties
which your country is experiencing. I know that this triumph is largely
the result of the very efficient organisation of the congress by yourself
and your team and also because of your dedication in seeking and obtaining
financial backing. You have provided a superb model for IEHA conferences
in the future. Following the difficulties four years ago in Spain and
the absence of accounts and income from the last two international meetings,
it is marvellous that you have been able to turn the congress around
and to produce a healthy surplus in such difficult circumstances. The
IEHA owes you a considerable debt and this is very much recognised and
appreciated by the Economic History Society. We thank you for your dedication throughout your term of office as President of the IEHA and particularly for a very successful Congress. I look forward very much to meeting you again in future.Yours very sincerely, Pat Hudson From: Hans Pohl Lo siento muchisimo que no
