The Escuela de San Andres was created in 1838, influenced by the Presbyterian community settled in Buenos Aires. Universidad de San Andres' reputation for research, combined with its exclusive environment, has enabled the institution to attract and retain faculty excelling in both research productivity and in teaching. Approximately, 42 per cent of the teaching faculty are full-time professors. Classes are led by experienced academicians from leading universities in both Argentina and from abroad. Academia Nacional de la HistortiaAcademia Nacional de la Historia
It is a civil association with legal capacity, ruled by a statute and a board of directors which is composed of a number members who serve three year terms. It receives annual contributions from the State and acts through the Ministerio de Educacion y Cultura. It is formed by forty academicians in the country and abroad, and seats the Argentine History Committee, a branch of the International Committee (seated in Paris). Since 1993, it has been a member of the Union Acadimique Internationale (seated in Brussels).
Asociacion Argentina de Historia Economica
Created in 1981, it is a non-profit civil association formed by 436 members (faculty, research / historians and economists). Economic History Conferences had been held some years before the Argentine association was established, which were sponsored by institutions such as the Academia Nacional de la Historia, the Universidad de Buenos Aires, the Universidad Catslica Argentina, and the Instituto Torcuato Di Tella, and several national universities, Rio Cuarto, Lujan, Cordoba, San Juan, Jujuy, Mendoza, Rosario, Tandil, y Quilmes. During the first ten years, these meetings were organized on a yearly basis, and in 1990 they became a biennial event.
Asociacion Uruguaya de Historia Economica
Established in 1992, it is integrated by academicians of disciplines such as Economics and Management, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education. It is composed of a General Assembly and a Directive Council that is renewed every year. Its affiliation to the IEHA was approved in 1994 in Milano, Italy. In June, 1995 the first Economic History Conferences were held in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Asociacion Brasilera de Investigadores en Historia Economica
Created in 1993, it represents every Brazilian region through 199 associates. It has already carried out annual meetings such as the II Brazilian Economic History Congress and the III International Management History Congress. At present, it is seated in Universidad Federal Fulminense in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro.
