IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE PAYMENT OF XIIIth CONGRESS REGISTRATION FEES

We have already received a large number of registrations (600 as of June 1). Nevertheless, we realize that for some potential participants the recent political events in Argentina could give an impression of uncertainty. Even though we do not have control over the political events, we feel that the situation is becoming normalized and we expect improvements in the coming months. In addition, as we've announced before, all the issues concerning the organization of the Congress are progressing quite well and the major costs of the Congress have been covered. However, the processing of the registration fees has been compounded by the needs of Argentine banks to convert their dollar accounts into pesos.

In order to provide more guarantees for the payments, the Local Organizing Committee of the XIIIth Congress has decided to offer two different options for paying the registration fees:

1. The Local Organizing Committee of the Congress has asked EH.Net to take over accepting credit card payments in US dollars and to hold them in their bank account until 15 May. EH.Net offers an online registration form on this webpage that allows you to fill out your registration and to pay by credit card all online until 16 July. After this date you will be able to register on location at the Hilton Hotel, Buenos Aires.

2. The registration payments can take place by transferring the amount to the Treasurer of the IEHA, account no. 279-CO157299.0 of UBS SA, The Swiss Bank Corporation, 2, rue de la Confederation, CH-1211 Geneve 2, Case Postale 2770, Switzerland (The bank's Swift-address is UBSWCHZH12B). Bank charges can be deducted from the registration fee.

Legally, the recipient of the funds will be the Local Organizing Committee. EH. Net will be just an intermediary. With the authorization of the President and the Secretary General or the Treasurer, the funds will be transferred to the Local Organizing Committee and EH.Net will not be liable for them.

To attendees of the XIII World Congress of the IEHA:

If you have not registered for the World Congress, you can do so using the online registration form at http://eh.net/XIIICongress/XIIIRegistration.html After filling out the registration form, you can choose to pay by credit card or bank transfer.

If you choose to use a credit card, you will fill out a payment form that will allow you to pay using VISA, MasterCard or American Express. When you submit your payment, a receipt will appear on the screen and a confirmation will be sent to your email address.

We encourage you to register for the XIII Economic History Congress as soon as possible.

If you fill out this form, you do not need to fax the Registration Card that you received with the second and final brochure of the Congress.

Registration

Argentine residents should register only through the registration form only for Argentine residents and send it by fax to the Local Organizing Committee. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to access this form.

* The fees include USD 10.- for the General Secretary of the IEHA.

. The registration fee includes participation in the welcoming reception, in all the technical sessions of the congress, CD-ROM and two coffee breaks per day. Fee for accompanying persons includes the social events and two coffee breaks per day.

. Congress documentation sets cannot be guaranteed for registrations made after 1 July 2002.

. STUDENTS: In addition to submitting their registration form and payment, students should submit via e-mail to ehconba@udesa.edu.ar or by fax (54 11 4725 7010) a certificate issued by the head of their university department verifying thier student status. Their registration at the special student rate is provisional until confirmed by the Local Organizing Committee.

Preference for sessions

It would be of great assistance in planning timetables and rooms allocation for the Congress if participants indicate on the registration form the sessions they wish to attend.
