Founded in 1983, The Cliometric Society is an academic organization of individuals interested in using economic theory and statistical techniques to study economic history. The Society seeks to advance and improve scholarship by emphasizing methodology, practicing, and promoting educational opportunities for young scholars.


Call for Papers
2008 ASSA Meetings
January 4-6, 2008

The Cliometric Society will sponsor three sessions at the ASSA meetings in New Orleans, Louisiana, January 4-6, 2008. The program committee consists of Lee Alston (Colorado), Zorina Khan (Bowdoin), Melissa Thomasson (Miami) and Michael Haupert (Wisconsin-LaCrosse). Authors interested in presenting a paper should send a one-page proposal, including an abstract or description of the paper and all contact information, to Lee Craig at Csociety@Eh.net or Lee_Craig@ncsu.edu by May 1, 2007. Please note on the subject line that you are sending a proposal for the ASSA meetings, and either include the proposal in your message or send the documents as attachments in a Word format.

We want scholars to be able to read summaries of the papers in advance of the ASSA meetings. Thus, authors submitting proposals must be prepared to send a 3,000-word summary to the publisher of the Society Newsletter by September 1, 2007.

At least one author must be a member of the Cliometric Society.
